Tattoo Aftercare
-replace initial saran wrap no more than 2 hours after tattoo appointment
-wash tattoo gently with antibacterial soap and warm water
-pat dry gently with clean towel or paper towel
-use a NEW piece of saran wrap on your tattoo do NOT put any ointment on it
-repeat this process 3x daily for the next 3 days
-at the beginning of the fourth day, remove wrap, wash tattoo, and apply a nonscented lotion as needed
-reapply lotion as needed for the next 2-3 weeks
-wash tattoo as needed or in the shower with antibacterial soap
-stay away from gym equipment for the first 3-5 days
-if working out during the first 5 days, wash tattoo thoroughly after to remove any sweat
-no swimming or soaking tattoo for the first 2 weeks
-no sun exposure for three weeks
-DO NOT PICK AT OR TOUCH YOUR TATTOO
-peeling will start 3-5 days after application, DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH AT YOUR TATTOO!
-itchiness is a normal part of the healing process!
Tattoo Aftercare with DermShield
-leave bandage on for 3 days
-peel off gently in the shower at the end of the third day, warm water will help it peel off
-wash tattoo with as hot of water as you can stand and antibacterial soap (dial gold liquid soap is recommended)
-you may have to wash tattoo multiple times to remove any blood or plasma
-use non-scented lotion (lubriderm, eucerin, and vanicream are recommended) as needed (usually 2-3x daily) for the next two weeks
-wash tattoo 1-2x daily with antibacterial soap for the first week after removing the bandage
-peeling/itching is normal and usually occurs 3-5 days after getting the tattoo, do not pick or scratch at your tattoo! Lotion helps with the itching, and the dry skin will flake off on its own when you moisturize or wash the tattoo
-red marks or patches after removing the bandage are normal but if you have a reaction other than that please reach out to the artist to notify them. DermSheild is latex free, but reactions to the adhesive can occur.
-The bandage is waterproof but avoid soaking it in water while it is on.
-do not soak your tattoo for the first 2 weeks (baths, swimming etc.) and avoid sun exposure for the first 3 weeks.
Piercing Aftercare
-always wash hands before cleaning your piercing
-clean piercings two or three times a day with sterile saline (NO ALCOHOL OR PEROXIDE!)
-keep jewelry in for six to eight weeks before you change
-no submerging under water
-do not twist or touch your piercingÂ
-piercings can take anywhere from four months to a year to heal
